Follower-to-following ratio
Also known as: Follow ratio, Following ratio
The ratio of accounts that follow you vs. accounts you follow back — a rough proxy for influence.
In depth
Accounts with high follower-to-following ratios (10:1 or higher) signal that they're followed primarily for their content, not as part of a follow-back exchange. The ratio shows on every profile and is a quick credibility check other users perform.
Don't optimize for the ratio directly. Optimize for content quality; the ratio follows. Mass-unfollowing to inflate the ratio (a tactic from the 2010s) is detectable and risks account suspension.
