Hashtag
A keyword prefixed with # that turns into a clickable link to a search results page on X.
In depth
Hashtags categorize tweets into searchable buckets. On X, they're more useful for discovery during live events (#WWDC, #SuperBowl) than for evergreen growth. The algorithm doesn't reward hashtags the way Instagram does.
One or two relevant hashtags per tweet is fine. Five-plus hashtags in a single tweet looks spammy and the algorithm down-weights the post.
