Common questions
What's the ideal X thread length?+
5-9 tweets for short threads, 7-12 for long ones. Below 5 doesn't earn the thread format benefit (just post as singletons). Above 9 sees sharp drop-off — reader retention falls by ~10% per tweet past 9.
Why does the tool target 240 chars per tweet, not 280?+
240 leaves room for thread numbering (' 1/9' takes 4-5 chars), and gives flexibility for editing without immediately hitting the cap. If you want pure 280 chars, slide the target length up.
Should I use numbered (1/, 2/) thread markers?+
Generally no in 2026. Numbering signals 'this is a thread' which can deter casual readers from clicking the hook tweet. The threading itself is the visual signal. Use numbering for long technical threads where readers benefit from explicit position tracking.
Will the tool preserve my paragraphs?+
When possible, yes. If your content has multiple paragraphs (separated by blank lines), the tool tries to keep them on the same tweet or split between them. Single long paragraphs get split at sentence boundaries.
